The Flaming Lips tonight in Norfolk!

Great ‘hipster’ band The Flaming Lips are performing tonight (10/27/11) at the Norva Theater in downtown Norfolk, VA.

Tickets are $47 (includes a $7 service charge) if purchased with TicketMaster. You can only purchase tickets on-line till 5pm. Tickets will be available at the door after then, unless the show sells out (Which I highly doubt it will.) And I think the service charge is a lot less since you are not using TicketMaster’s service. Show starts at 8pm

I don’t have a ticket as of yet, but I am thinking I’d really like to see this show. If anyone has an extra ticket they could give me, or get me on the guest-list…that would be great! Just contact me at info@hippstrerapproved.net

Just in case I don’t make it to the show. And if you do..and you’d like to write a review of the show and/or have your pictures
ย posted, please let me know!

Thanks

Rob Crow CD review on the way….

Aside

I just got in the new CD from ‘hipster’ Rob Crow (of Pinback) called ‘He Thinks He’s People’ from Temporary Residence Limited Records.

I only got to give it a quick listen. So far…I’m not sure what to write about it. I think it requires some repeated listening. No hooks sticking as of yet…

Have you heard it? Anyone else have something they’d like to say about the new release? Email it to me or post a comment. I’d like to hear it!

One more thing…when I did my search on Google for Rob Crow, I came across this TV commercial for Kingsford Charcoal that uses a Rob Crow cover song. He plays a very cool slowed down version of Human League’s (Keep Feeling) Fascination. Turns out the full song is available as a free download. I recommend getting it. –>here

Cult movie maker John Waters (Pink Flamingos) is appearing at Norfolk’s Old Dominion University’s Webb Center on Thursday Nov 10th at 7:30pm. This event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are suggested.
More info can be found here-> http://www.odu.edu/ao/ia/insideodu/20111024/topstory1.html

Unfortunately…I will not be able to attend this event. If someone would like to write-up a review/take some pictures…that would be great! Just email me at info@HipsterApproved.net

Thanks!

First post!

Richmond “I heard there are actually aย bunch of anarchists here” Virginia

Hello…thanks for stopping by to read about all things hip.

This is a work in progress right now. I will be adding an eBay store and a Facebook page (Facebook is totally new to me). Be sure to check back often for updates. Or click on “Follow” to get all the latest delivered right to your inbox!

Anyway…I read this cool article on the web today that actually mentions Richmond, VA as being a “hipster approved” city to live in. That is SO cool considering that I am headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia (Ocean View section). Richmond is the nearest “big” city to us. After that it’s Washington DC.

The article had this cool graphic with it->

You can read the very funny article and comments that follow here-> http://therumpus.net/2011/05/post-grad-hipsters-guide-to-inhabitable-u-s-cities/#more-79259
