Hip free download…Kramies – The Wooden Heart

Kramies_Wooden_Heart_Single_Cover_1400px

I just listened to the free track from ultra-hipster Kramies.

You can download the new single ‘The Wooden Heart’ free here.

Here’s what a press release had to say about it:

“Hidden Shoal Recordings is proud to announce the release of ‘The Wooden Heart’, the title track from the expansive new EP by dream-pop singer-songwriter Kramies (out 17th Oct. 2013). Grab the track for free here or stream the track below.

Produced by Todd Tobias (Guided By Voices, Robert Pollard, Circus Devils), ‘The Wooden Heart’ is a kaleidoscopic introduction to Kramies’ beautiful new release. The song’s windswept grandeur is married to an emotional directness that demands your attention and doesn’t let go. Akin to The Moody Blues’ classic ‘Nights In White Satin’, ‘The Wooden Heart’ renders an immersive, widescreen pop vista that takes your breath away.

In addition to Todd Tobias’s production (on ‘The Beginning’, ‘The Wooden Heart’, ‘Upon The Northern Isles’ and ‘The Ending’), The Wooden Heart EP also features the production and instrumental talents of Jason Lytle of Grandaddy fame (on ‘Sea Otter Cottage’ and ‘Clocks Were All Broken’). Rounded out by the beautiful artwork of French photographer Jérôme Sevrette, The Wooden Heart EP is a lovingly constructed work of art.”

iTunes Free Single of the Week: Jake Bugg – Lightning Bolt

For those that use iTunes (doesn’t everyone?), the Free Single of the Week is Jake Bugg’s ‘Lightning Bolt’. You can download it free here –>itunes.apple.com/us/album/lightning-bolt-single/id620456099 in the U.S.

It amazes me that Jake Bugg is only 19 years old. I have t-shirts older than him!

I first became familiar with Jake Bugg after reading an awesome concert review (complete with excellent pictures) on the blog Every Record Tells A Story. You can read it here–> EveryRecordTellsAStory.com/2013/03/27/jake-bugg-live/ (This blog is full of great stories out of the UK. I highly recommend it.)

The first thing that strikes you when you see Jake Bugg live is that he reminds you of a sulky teenager (because he is one) in his Adidas trainers and Fred Perry shirt – but then he opens his mouth and out comes the most amazing voice. This is a voice that cuts through all the nonsense in the newspapers and leads you to ask “How does someone that young get to be so good?” ~ EveryRecordTellsAStory.com

Hip free eBook…Kiss The Sky by DC Gallin

I wanted to thank author Denise Gallin for the copy of the book Kiss The Sky published by Telemachus Press. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but I just wanted to let everyone know that it is being given away this week at Amazon.com for FREE. This is a limited time offer, so go download it.

Please click on ‘Comments’ and let me know what you think of the book. I can’t wait to read it!

Here’s a brief synopsis:

London in the heady 90’s is waking up to the tribal pulse of repetitive beats, but the police violently attempt to clamp down on the freedom and unity emanating from the speaker stacks. Following the artist’s path in these tumultuous times, Claudia and her friends move into a freezing cold warehouse in the East End while surviving on canned sardines and apples. How can they escape the matrix and remain true to their quest?

New Soundgarden song free download on iTunes!

Great to be back at HipsterApproved World Headquarters in scenic Ocean View, Virginia.

Just completed a short visit to the hipster city of Columbus, Ohio. Watch for photos to be posted soon…like this one…

Anyway..my mailbox had some cool stuff in it… For example the new Soundgarden song ‘Live To Rise‘ available as a FREE download on iTunes. All hipsters have iTunes, right? The song is great! It’s off of the Avengers soundtrack.

Speaking of iTunes…Jack White is providing streaming of his entire debut album Blunderbuss – free for a limited time. I’ve been listening to it, and I really look forward to getting a copy of my own on April 24th 2012! It’s some of his best work…And that statement is huge!

Also, speaking of great new music…I’ve been listening to a lot of the new Shins release Port of Morrow. It’s genius. I was lucky enough to get the 4-track acoustic EP because I got it at an independent record store (Birdland in Va Beach). I recommend trying to get it.

I really like the Broken Bells release. I basically like all the James Mercer stuff I can find.
