Free coffee from Starbucks…

Aside

All hipsters like coffee, right? Well…if you’re willing to go ‘mainstream’ and drink Starbucks, I saw this ad that states they are giving out samples of all three of their roasts and if Blonde Roast is your favorite, they’ll give you a free sample to brew a pot of coffee at home.

This all takes place Thurs 1/12 – Sat 1/14 at Starbucks stores everywhere! (*while supplies last)

Check out Starbucks.com/MyRoast for more info…

Hip local news…Tool performing in Hampton VA!

Got back to HipsterApproved Headquarters last night from the trek over to the West Coast. (pictures coming soon..have to get rid of the jet-lag first.) Was quite excited to find waiting in the inbox of my email a notice about the hippest band, Tool performing at Hampton Coliseum on Friday February 3rd.

Tickets go on-sale tomorrow, Saturday January 7th 10:00am. Tickets cost about $54 or $69 depending on where your seat is located.

Maynard James Keenan may be the hardest working man in show busniess. I know that Puscifer is currently touring, and A Perfect Circle just wrapped-up a tour not too long ago.

MJK also is busy making wine. If you haven’t seen the movie Blood Into Wine, you should definitely check it out. It’s currently available to stream from Netflix.

Found this news on the web the other day.

I confirmed this at the Burger King website. Here’s what they have to say:

Hipster band ‘Cake’ perform tonight in Norfolk 12-1-11

In local news…96X FM is hosting a concert tonight at the Ted at ODU.

Hipster bands Cake, Cage The Elephant, and Bush are performing. There are a few other bands I haven’t really heard of…and some I’ve only heard on SNL, like Foster The People. But I’m sure some Hipsters really like them…

Anyway tickets were hella expensive plus a service charge. Doors open at 5pm, so that’s in just a couple of hours. If I were going…I’d just show up at the door and see if anyone has any extra tickets they’d like to sell cheap instead of them loosing their money on. But that’s just me….

I can’t make it to this show, but if there’s anyone out there that goes and would like to be a contributor to HipsterApproved.net just let me know. Leave a comment or email me at info@hipsterapproved.net

Owl City appearing at the Norva 11/14/11

Hip new band Owl City is playing a show at the beautiful Norva Theater in downtown Norfolk, Virginia on Monday November 14th.

Tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 the day of the show.

I’m not really familiar with the band. I’ve only heard a few songs…but from what I hear, they sound a lot like Ben Gibbard‘s (of Death Cab for Cutie) project The Postal Service. Which is a huge compliment.

I would like to see this show, but I don’t have a ticket. If anyone has an extra, I sure would appreciate a hook-up. Or maybe I could get added to the guest list? Just let me know at info@hipsterapproved.net

Thanks

The Flaming Lips tonight in Norfolk!

Great ‘hipster’ band The Flaming Lips are performing tonight (10/27/11) at the Norva Theater in downtown Norfolk, VA.

Tickets are $47 (includes a $7 service charge) if purchased with TicketMaster. You can only purchase tickets on-line till 5pm. Tickets will be available at the door after then, unless the show sells out (Which I highly doubt it will.) And I think the service charge is a lot less since you are not using TicketMaster’s service. Show starts at 8pm

I don’t have a ticket as of yet, but I am thinking I’d really like to see this show. If anyone has an extra ticket they could give me, or get me on the guest-list…that would be great! Just contact me at info@hippstrerapproved.net

Just in case I don’t make it to the show. And if you do..and you’d like to write a review of the show and/or have your pictures
 posted, please let me know!

Thanks

Richmond “I heard there are actually a bunch of anarchists here” Virginia

Hello…thanks for stopping by to read about all things hip.

This is a work in progress right now. I will be adding an eBay store and a Facebook page (Facebook is totally new to me). Be sure to check back often for updates. Or click on “Follow” to get all the latest delivered right to your inbox!

Anyway…I read this cool article on the web today that actually mentions Richmond, VA as being a “hipster approved” city to live in. That is SO cool considering that I am headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia (Ocean View section). Richmond is the nearest “big” city to us. After that it’s Washington DC.

The article had this cool graphic with it->

You can read the very funny article and comments that follow here-> http://therumpus.net/2011/05/post-grad-hipsters-guide-to-inhabitable-u-s-cities/#more-79259
